Twenty-first Annual California Independent Film Festival

The California Independent Film Festival will be celebrating its 21st festival in Lamorinda from August 24 to August 30, at the Rheem and Orinda Theatres.  The Opening Night celebration kicks off at the Rheem Theatre on Friday, August 24 at 6:00PM with an international style reception followed by the World Premiere of the Austrian film, The Salzburg Story.  This is the first time in CAIFF’s history that the opening film is international and a world premiere. The Director, Alexander Peter Lercher and three cast members will be in attendance.  Over the weekend (August 25 and 26) the film festival will be at the Orinda Theatre with several short programs, documentaries, feature films, iron filmmaker contest, composer contest and celebrity guest tributes, including Leonard Maltin, Mindy Sterling and Doug Jones. 

The remaining four days (August 27 - 30) the festival returns to its home at the Rheem Theatre with feature films, a Bay Area showcase and a comedy shorts program from Canada. 

CAIFF has something for everyone in films from around the world.  This year 13 countries are represented.
