Orinda Action Day Promotes Volunteerism & Civic Pride
ORINDA, CA. (2017) – On Saturday April 22, 2017 from 9:30 am to noon, the City of Orinda will be beautified and cleaned during the ninth annual Orinda Action Day of Community Service by community volunteers.
“Orinda Action Day, co-sponsored by the Orinda Community Foundation (OCF) in partnership with the City of Orinda, is a time our city comes together to not only clean and foster civic involvement, but to showcase what a wonderful, friendly community Orinda represents,” says former Mayor Sue Severson.
Volunteers of all ages (12 years or younger need a guardian) are encouraged to sign-up via Sign Up Genius Orinda Action Day 2017 where a range of projects is listed. Local businesses are also encouraged to take part by cleaning up their store exteriors and planting seasonal flowers in an effort to beautify the downtown area.
Check-in time is 9:30 AM at the Orinda Library Plaza on 26 Orinda Way, Orinda, CA 94563. The first 300 volunteers will receive a free tee-shirt, fruit, snacks and coffee upon registration. Our D.J. and "Voice of Orinda", Steve Harwood, will be presenting prizes for unusual "finds" and pizza will be served.
“As a local realtor with Pacific Union and longtime resident, I understand why families move here and never leave! Orindans love to support and improve the environment,” says co-chair Holly Henkel. Co-chairing this year with Holly is Brian Chinn, Managing Director and Portfolio Manager at First Republic Investment Management, who is an Orinda resident and father of two students at Del Rey.
